Minutes of the New-York Manumission Society

[New York] August 17th. 1787

The Society met according to Adjournment.

Present

John Jay Esqr. President, Matthew Clarkson Esqr. V. Prest., John Murray Junr. Treasurer, John Keese Secretary, Willet Seaman, William Shotwell, Richard Lawrence, Alexander Hamilton, Doctr Walter Minto, Egbert Benson, Doctr John Bard, Ebenezer Hazard, James Hardy, Robert Harpur, White Matlack &c.

The Committee appointed last Evening to draw a Memorial to the fœderal Convention reported that they had prepared one which was read and approved, but the Society being informed that it was probable the Convention would not take up the Business, resolved not to send the same—1

Then the Society adjourned till the 15th. Day of November next to meet at the Coffee House at 6 oClock in the Evening.
