From John Banister

9 Feb. 1785. Wrote the preceding day recommending his son, who, after a long illness, has been advised by Dr. McClurg to take a sea voyage and “terminate his Journey in the South of France” for his health. Banister hopes he will there learn the language and that TJ will introduce him to “the best Person … with whom to associate and study.”

RC (MHi);2 p.; endorsed by TJ: “Bannister John junr. [sic].” Recorded in SJL as received 1 June 1785 “by his son.”
