Sir,
I have inclosed you a copy of record in the case of Peyton against Henderson, you wrote that you had a copy of the bill, and wished the record to begin with the answer, but on examination I found the bill so short, that I thought it best to send you a compleat copy of the record.

Harrison Dance (d. 1823) was clerk of Virginia’s highest tribunal, the Court of Appeals, from 1810 until shortly before his death (Vi: RG 100, Court of Appeals Order Book [6:388, 10:392]; Richmond Enquirer, 6 June 1823).
TJ wrote the “Clerk of Appeals” a 22 June 1812 letter, recorded in SJL but not found. SJL also records a missing letter from TJ to the Clerk of the General Court dated 24 June 1812.
