G. E. Stack presents his compliments to Mr Jefferson, thanks him for his invitation, and hopes Mr Jefferson will excuse him. At present Mr Stack is perfectly free and easy in his own good old way; at the same time assures Mr Jefferson of his high respect and best wishes.

SJL records a missing letter from TJ to Stack of 10 Apr. 1820, with bracketed notation: “inclosing Chapman’s letter.” The enclosure was likely George A. Chapman to TJ, 31 Mar. 1820, also not found, recorded in SJL as received 6 Apr. 1820 from Philadelphia.
