§ From Hodijah Baylies

1 January 1802, Collector’s Office, District of Dighton. “I herewith transmit an Abstract of the Register of American Seamen in this District, for the last Quarter.

“No Report was made, at this Office, in the last Quarter, of the Impressment or Detention of any Seaman.”

RC (DNA: RG 59, Correspondence with Collectors of Customs regarding Impressed Seamen, box 12). 1 p. Baylies, collector at Dighton, Massachusetts, wrote similar letters on 1 Apr. 1802 and 1 July 1803 (ibid.).
