1. The enclosed letter was Sylvanus Bourne to Thomas Jefferson, 15 Nov. 1806 (1 p.), in which Bourne referenced a triplicate copy of a letter from the king of Holland (see Bourne to JM, 11 Nov. 1806, and n. 1). Bourne also suggested that the renewal of his commission be styled “Consul General & Chargé des Affaires of the U. States” and requested a salary commensurate with that title.
