RC and enclosure (DLC). RC docketed by JM. The enclosure is a note from William Coleman (1 p.) stating that U.S. gunboats had attacked a British frigate stationed near Hampton that morning, that British barges had come to the defense of the frigate, and that the outcome of the action was not known. Coleman’s note was dated “Wednesday Eveng.”; 24 Mar. 1813 was a Wednesday.

1An asterisk appears here with a corresponding note, “from William Coleman,” in JM’s hand at the bottom of the page.
