June 16, 1813.

The President of the United States regrets that the error of his watch, and the precipitancy of his servant, prevented his seeing, at 11 o’clock, today, the committee of the Senate, on the subject referred to them.

If the state of his health should not permit him to see the committee, he will apprize them of it in time.
