1GW’s letter to Forbes has not been found. See Orderly Book, 20 Nov., for the orders to this work party and note 4 of that document for an explanation of how the road to Bouquet’s camp was cut.

2GW’s brigade was back at Washington’s Camp on the night of 21 November. See Orderly Book, 21 Nov., especially GW’s brigade orders at the end.

3In routing his army by way of the headwaters of Turtle Creek (Washington’s Camp), Forbes had chosen, for reasons of safety, the alternate trading path, which was to the north of the old trading path and longer.
