1See GW to Lawrence Sanford, 29 Sept. 1770, and note. The enclosed invoice has not been found, but an account, enclosed in McMickan’s letter to GW of 29 May 1771 and dated 6 Dec. 1770–16 Feb. 1771, shows GW received only £40.15.9 for the goods sold by McMickan, leaving £9.14.4 still to be paid. The account shows the balance to be charged to Robert Adam & Co. For GW’s shipment of fish to the West Indies in 1769, see GW to Lawrence Sanford, 26 Sept. 1769.
