Esteemed friend
We wrote thee 14 Novemr ⅌ the Nancy Capt. Wise as ⅌ copy annex’d to which beg leave to refer thee—since then ⟨illegible have received⟩ none of thy favors.1
We send thee inclosed the Kings Speech by which thou wilt see the resolution of Government relative to the Colonies we much wish some expedient may b⟨e⟩ adopted amicably to settle all disputes.2 We are with great regard thy assured friends

1. On 18 Feb. 1775 the Virginia Gazette (Dixon and Hunter; Williamsburg) printed the report that the ship Nancy, Capt. George Wise, had arrived in Norfolk.
2. The king’s speech is printed in the Virginia Gazette (Purdie; Williamsburg), 3 Feb. 1775, supplement, under the dateline “LONDON, November 30.”
