Cambridge 16 March 1776. Certifies that Joseph Joslyn is qualified to be surgeon of Col. James Mitchell Varnum’s regiment.1

1. Joseph Joslyn, a friend of Nathanael Greene, moved to East Greenwich, R.I., from Scotland in 1770. He served in Varnum’s 9th Continental Regiment until December 1776 when he was named surgeon of Col. Joseph Stanton’s Rhode Island militia regiment.
