General Orders

Head-Quarters Middle-Brook Sunday Jany 31st 1779.

Parole Dephford—C. Signs Semlin—Elbe.

The Morristown guard to be increased to a Captains command & relieved monthly ’till further orders.1

The officers will see that all the Ammunition now in the men’s hands be returned to the Regimental Quarter Masters, and in future when their men return from guard or detachments they are in like manner to see it turned in.

1. This guard was strengthened for the better security of the prisoners of war held at Morristown (see William Livingston to GW, 8 Feb., and GW to William Maxwell, 20 Feb.).
