Inclosed you have Copy of the Arrangement of the 3d North Carolina Battalion as transmitted to me by the Board of War for my revisal before the Commissions are issued.1 If no alterations, by Resignations or other ways, have happened since the Copy was made out be pleased to apply to the Board for the Commissions. I have sent the arrangement of the 1st and 2d Batts. to Colo. Clarke that he may advise if any alterations have happened in them.2 I am Sir Yr most obt.

Hogun, who had been colonel of the 3d North Carolina Regiment since November 1776, was promoted to brigadier general by Congress on 9 Jan. 1779 (see JCC description begins Worthington Chauncey Ford et al., eds. Journals of the Continental Congress, 1774-1789. 34 vols. Washington, D.C., 1904–37. description ends , 13:46).
