Lieutenant Abraham Maury is appointed Adjutant and Lieutenant Nathaniel Terry Quarter Master in the 10th Virginia Regiment.1
Major General Greene being called from camp on duties of his department, the board of General Officers directed in yesterdays orders to meet at his quarters tomorrow are to meet at Major General Lord-Stirlings and to proceed on the business for which they were appointed.

Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes the following additional general order: “A sub. 3 Serjeants & 35 R[ank] & F[ile] from ⟨mutilated Mary⟩land Brigade for fatigue Tomorrow, ⟨to parade⟩ as Usual.” (orderly book, 22 Dec. 1778–26 June 1779, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 28).
1. Abraham Maury (1758–1833) of Albemarle County, Va., had been commissioned a second lieutenant in the 14th Virginia Regiment in November 1776 and promoted to first lieutenant in December 1777. Continuing to serve in the regiment after it was redesignated as the 10th Virginia Regiment in September 1778, Maury remained a first lieutenant until he resigned in February 1781. He later married Mildred Washington Thornton (b. 1768), who was a niece of Mildred Thornton Washington, wife of GW’s youngest brother, Charles Washington.
Nathaniel Terry (1755–1837) of Halifax County, Va., had been appointed a first lieutenant in the 14th Virginia Regiment in December 1776, and after that regiment was redesignated as the 10th Virginia Regiment, he was promoted to captain-lieutenant on 12 March 1779 and to captain on 15 Dec. 1779. Taken prisoner with the Virginia line at Charleston, S.C., in May 1780, Terry apparently was exchanged by the summer of 1781, when he became a captain in Col. Thomas Posey’s Virginia battalion. About 1822 he moved to Todd County, Ky., where he died.
