Parole Wolfenbuttle—C. Signs Wales. Wales.

The Honorable the Congress having appointed Henry Rutgers junr and Azariah Horton Esquires, Deputy Commissaries General of Musters they are to be respected and obeyed accordingly.1

Adj. Gen. Alexander Scammell’s orderly book entry for this date includes the following additional general orders: “A Capt. Sub. 2 Serjts 2 Corpls a Drum & Fife & thirty Privates from the Virginia Line to parade Tomorrow Morning 9 o Clock with three Days provision and their Boxes full of Cartridges—The Capt. will receive directions from the Commissary Genl of Issues” (orderly book, 22 Dec. 1778–26 June 1779, DNA: RG 93, Orderly Books, 1775–1783, vol. 28).

GW’s expenses for this date included 15s “To Cash pd man for bringg Asparagrass a present” (household account book, 11 April 1776–21 Nov. 1780, DLC:GW, ser. 5, vol. 28).
