Df, in Robert Hanson Harrison’s writing, DLC:GW; Varick transcript, DLC:GW. The draft is addressed to “The Commanding Officer of the Militia of Jersey, who are to join the Army.”
Only after he received New Jersey governor William Livingston’s letter to him of 4 Aug. did GW become aware that Seely commanded the New Jersey militia deployed to fulfill the call for reinforcements made in GW’s circular to the states of 2 June (see also Livingston to GW, 17 Aug.).
