1. James Wood enclosed trader James Ore’s letter to Henry Lee of 18 June 1793 in a letter to Knox of 8 July (Vi: Executive Letter Book, 1792–1794). Ore’s letter, which has not been identified, duplicated a report by Arthur Campbell that on 12 June a militia unit of the Southwest Territory had attacked a friendly Cherokee village, killing several of its inhabitants (JPP description begins Dorothy Twohig, ed.
