Dear Uncle

I take the liberty of writing by Mr Maund who is going to Philadelphia, and of introducing him to you.1 I wrote you some posts ago, respecting a suit of Hanchaw agt you in the High Court of Chancery, which I hope you have recieved.2 with love to my Aunt I am most sincerely Your Affect. Nephew

ALS, ViMtvL. A notation on the cover indicates that this letter was sent in care of “J.J. Maund Esqr.”

1. Attorney John James Maund (d. 1802), an emigrant from Wales, served in the Virginia Senate, 1793–96. In September 1793, he received an appointment from the state of Virginia as superintendent for the Port of Yeocomico, including Kinsale, in Westmoreland County (Virginia State Papers, 6:538).
